William D. Matthewman is a shareholder of the firm and is both Florida Bar Board Certified in Criminal Trial Law and A/V rated. Bill leads the Criminal Defense Practice Group and concentrates his practice on federal and state criminal cases, as well as on select civil matters. He is an experienced litigator who also represents individuals who are the subject of grand jury subpoenas as targets or as witnesses, or are involved in criminal investigations by state or federal authorities. Bill has handled several high profile criminal cases in both state and federal courts. In 1997, he was awarded with the prestigious “Liberty’s Last Champion” Award by the Florida Association for Criminal Defense Lawyers, Miami Chapter.

Bill graduated from the University of Florida School of Law with honors in 1983, and was Research Editor of the University of Florida Law Review. He has lectured in the area of criminal law and Racketeering statute (RICO) and other areas of federal and state criminal law.
