Overview

Daniel McGillycuddy is a Partner in the Sanctions, White Collar, Investigations and Regulatory Group at Seiden Law. He is a seasoned trial lawyer, investigator and defense lawyer with decades of experience in winning high profile and complex cases for clients.

Daniel is a highly skilled and tenacious trial lawyer in both federal and state court. His broad experience encompasses all phases of complex litigation and white collar defense, both at the trial and appellate level. As a prosecutor in the New York County District Attorney’s Office, he first-chaired over 100 trials and hearings. He successfully prosecuted a high-profile conspiracy to murder a sitting Justice of the New York Supreme Court and a highly publicized double murder in midtown Manhattan. He investigated and prosecuted lengthy wiretap investigations into drug conspiracies tied to well-known drug cartels and numerous, complex white collar fraud and money laundering operations. He successfully tried multiple white collar fraud cases.

Directly out of the NY District Attorney’s Office, Daniel worked at the global law firm Bingham McCutchen. There, and during his tenure in private practice, Daniel represented international banks, hedge funds, private equity firms, and Fortune 100 companies in civil and regulatory matters. He represented the Fortune 100 corporation in a $100 million contract dispute; an international biotech manufacturer in an arbitral matter involving a complex analysis of bio research findings and innovations in cellular-pharmaceutical interactions; a hedge fund principal in a SEC investigation; and a London global investment firm in a commercial litigation alleging international securities and currency-conversion fraud.

Daniel also has represented the CEO of a Fortune 500 company in an internal investigation conducted by its Directors and a healthcare entity in a multi-million dollar federal False Claims Act investigation. He pursued Civil RICO claims on behalf of international investors in a Ukrainian enterprise; and defended an order to show before the New York Appellate Division, First Department. He developed additional federal and civil experience working as an associate at renowned white collar firm Obermaier, Morvillo, Abramowitz and Fitzpatrick.

Daniel is committed to giving back to those in need by relentless, stellar pro bono legal representation.  He successfully obtained exoneration, pre indictment, for an undocumented, immigrant teen wrongfully charged with murder. He was the first lawyer in New York to gain reversal of a felony conviction on behalf of a sex trafficking victim (told to hold a handgun by an “enforcer” when police entered the area), and one of the first to use a recently passed New York statute enacted to reverse misdemeanor prostitution offenses of human trafficking survivors.

Daniel is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was selected to be Research and Projects Editor of the Virgin Journal of International Law. He received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University, there he earned admission to the University’s selective Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.
