Ian Weiss is a senior litigator at Seiden Law working on some of the most complex and high value cases in the firm.
Ian began his career as an associate at the law firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP and as a federal law clerk, where he worked on trials in the Eastern District of New York and appeals in the Second Circuit and Ninth Circuit.
Ian is experienced in all aspects of litigation, from drafting pleadings, oral argument, examining witnesses at trial and arguing appeals.
Among Ian’s recent successes at Seiden Law are two successful appeals. First, he persuaded the federal Second Circuit appeals court in Manhattan to reverse the dismissal of our pro bono client’s case concerning her ownership of a drawing done by world-renowned artist Jeane Michel Basquiat. Shortly thereafter, Ian lead the team effort to defeat Wall Street financial giant Cantor Fitzgerald in New York’s Appellate Division, First Department, persuading the court to reverse the lower court’s decision and to rule that our client, a health care technology startup, did not owe Cantor Fitzgerald a $2 million “fee for nothing.”
Ian attended the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he served as Executive Editor on the Law Review and authored an article on insurance law that has since been cited by trial and appellate courts. He also worked on United States Supreme Court cases in U. Penn Law’s Supreme Court Clinic and graduated law school magna cum laude, Order of the Coif. Ian also earned a certificate in business management from the Wharton School.
